I don’t know about you huns, but my social media is full of posts on how mental health matters. Hell, I’ve even contributed to some of those myself. We all agree, yet my social media is also full of posts bragging about being close to burnout. Or bragging that they have only had 2 hours of sleep as they have been working.
Let’s get one this straight shall we? You don’t have to burnout to be successful. You don’t have to work all the hours under the sun to make it. Yes, you have to put in a shit ton of time and effort, of course you do. BUT you can work smarter and not risk your mental health crumbling around you.
Working 23 hours a day isn’t going to help you in the long run. We don’t need to be doing a Mark Wahlberg and get up at 3am everyday (and no I’m not just saying this because I’m not a morning person.) You’re going to end up needing to take time away and how is that helping your goals?
Think of the old story, the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady wins the race. Going in guns blazing will just put a bunch of holes in your plan and eventually it will all fall apart around you.
Everything is so accessible now. Our whole lives and business are on our phones. They are right next to us where ever we are in the world. I mean, come on we’ve all checked a few emails on the pooper.
We need to set healthy boundaries. It doesn’t mean you don’t want your business to succeed. You’re just thinking longer than the next week or so.
Working on your dreams and goals is sooo freaking hard. Let’s not destroy our mental health in the process.
And to all those bragging about late nights and burnouts, grow up will you hun or you will truly see what burnout looks like and it aint pretty.
