To the people who tell you, you’re always anxious or depressed.
To the people who tell you to snap out of it.
To the people who tell you to think positive thoughts.
To the people who say just stop being anxious and depressed.
To the people who say well we all have issues.
To the people who say they understand, then list off all the things that shows they really do not understand.
To the people who say power through.
To the people who ignore those who are suicidal.
To the people who think you will be back to ‘normal’ after one mental health meeting.
To the people who think that going to therapy for a few weeks is going to cure you.
To the people who say have you tried not feeling sad.
To the people who think taking medication is weak.
To the people who think asking for help is weak.
To the people who think we are faking.
We have heard it all.
We wish we could power through.
We wish we could think ourselves well again.
We wish we could click our fingers and be cured.
We wish we could just stop being anxious or depressed.
We wish you would just shut up.
We are not weak.
We are not worthless.
We are worthy.
We are deserving.
We are loved.
We are deserving of love.
We are strong.
We are powerful, even on our lowest days.
To the people who don’t want to or don’t care to understand, please step back and let those who do, be closer to us. To fuel our souls and help us to survive another day.
